Allergies for Dogs – What Are They and What You Can Do About Them

Dogs can become victims of various different health disorders that people can have, including diabetes and obesity and allergies. That’s right, there are indeed allergies for dogs that are common among some of them. There are all sorts of allergies for dogs, and they each have symptoms that you should watch for. Some of the allergies for dogs are caused by foods or bacteria, and there are also times when the immune system can be impacted.

The first type of the allergies for dogs is that of allergies from fleas. Dogs tend to be infected with fleas from time to time if they are not cleaned and groomed properly. The saliva from a flea can cause the allergies to flare up in a dog because the particles from the saliva are very small and can be inhaled into a dog’s respiratory system easily. A good flea control system will be needed to help protect the dog, but it is important to use a protection program that is safe.

There are also food allergies for dogs to watch for. Foods that dogs haven’t tried before can be foreign to them and will hurt their immune systems, while some products like fish, eggs, corn, milk, pork, beef and soy or wheat products are not tolerated well by dogs. A dog can show symptoms of a food allergy through irritated skin, biting the rear feet, sneezing, ear inflammations and vomiting. If you suspect that there is a food product your dog is allergic to you should take the product away from the dog immediately.

Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common allergies for dogs. A dog’s immune system can be especially sensitive to some items like dust mites, and you can tell if your dog has this program if the dog is licking or chewing its rear feet or licking its abdomen excessively. Stains can be found from this allergy in the saliva stains in the groin or between the dog’s toes.

Some allergies for dogs will result from bacteria. Some dogs will develop allergies to Staphylococcus bacteria, which is a bacteria that lives in the skin and can create ringworm infections if the dog is allergic to it. In this event you should bring your dog to a veterinarian so that the dog can be prescribed the appropriate medicine for relief of symptoms from allergies to the bacteria.

The general symptoms of allergies for dogs include itching around the skin, difficult barking through their respiratory system and sneezing. Sometimes vomiting and diarrhea will occur with these symptoms. These are generally symptoms of allergies for dogs that are similar to what humans can experience.

In short, if you feel that your dog is sick and is not as healthy as it normally is then the dog may have an allergy. Be sure to talk with your local veterinarian for more information about allergies for dogs and how you can control them in the event that your dog is affected.
